As one of the largest cattle producing ranches in the country, the ranch is also home to a large population of both fish and wildlife. Elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, antelope, black bear and mountain lions reside throughout the property, along with great populations of wild rainbow, brown, cutthroat and brook trout.
The ranch's fly fishing habitat consists of the Blue Ribbon trout streams on both The North Platte and Encampment Rivers, offering one of the finest fly fishing destinations in the West. Silver Spur offers a wide variety of fishing environments: high mountain lakes, trophy trout ponds, small creeks and over 10 miles of private river access with 4 drift boat and raft put ins. The assortment of trout is astounding and the fly fishing is world-class.
Due to the size of the ranch and the owner's extensive conservation efforts, you can rest assured you'll have no competition from other anglers. As a result of proper management of the trout habitat, recreational opportunities are plentiful for fly anglers of all skillsets.
